Oystermen

Oyster farming is one of the most sustainable types of livestock food production available. At Lindisfarne the environment is particularly fragile and the low impact nature of farming oysters means that this particular farm can be right in the middle of Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, surrounded by seals and wintering fowl without a single negative impact, a truly harmonious food source that has been here since the 14th century. The work here follows a day on the farm at low tide and has been featured in the Northern Correspondent and The Northumbrian.
